Dr. Stephen "David" Hall currently heads up content and creative direction for PsychMaven as the Education Director for the learning and teaching community. David began his work as a counselor/psychotherapist in 2005, and he currently holds clinical licenses in Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. He has built up multiple personal and group mental health practices in his years as a clinician, first in Georgia and then in his home state of Tennessee. In 2015, he led the start-up of an independent psychiatry clinic, Haven Family Psychiatry, and then built up his current group therapy practice, Haven Counseling Center. Dr. Hall maintains a psychotherapy caseload and supervises postgraduate therapists with his practice.

In 2011, Dr. Hall founded the Narrative Institute to create a venue for therapists wanting to learn more about how to apply narrative theory and story-craft in behavioral health practice. With the Narrative Institute, as well as with other groups and associations, Dr. Hall has organized and taught continuing education seminars on narrative therapy, professional ethics, the psychology of social media, and other clinical topics; having done live trainings throughout the United States and in the United Kingdom. In 2019, the Narrative Institute became one of the founding component institutes of PsychMaven and Dr. Hall took on the role as as the Education Director and coordinator for the new group. Dr. Hall has worked as a business and clinical consultant in recovery treatment center start-ups, has served as the president of the Tennessee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (TNAMFT), the state division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and as an adjunct professor with Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has been married to fellow therapist, Brandy Hall, since 2008, and lives and practices in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee in the United States.
